Dear Richmond Community Schools Families and Residents,
Please join us at the Community Conversations with the Superintendent sessions on Monday, April 21st at Will L. Lee Elementary School (Enter through Door #1) in the Media Center at 6:30 p.m.
As shared in the January edition of the Communicator newsletter, the Board of Education approved a resolution this past December to consider a no-increase millage proposal aimed at funding essential expansions at all three buildings, with Richmond Middle School and Richmond High School receiving significant expansions. This initiative is designed to accommodate our growing student population and enhance our facilities to ensure we continue meeting the educational needs of our community effectively. By investing in these expansions, we continue to provide modern, adaptable spaces for learning for our students and staff, while also providing addition after-hours spaces for our community to utilize.
To further engage our community and gather your valuable input, I invite you to attend one of our upcoming Community Conversations with the Superintendent where I will present insights into student enrollment trends, facility utilization and needs assessments, and proposed building expansions.
These discussions will also allow us to hear your valuable feedback, and what you would like to see added to the scope of the project, all of which will be shared with the Board of Education as they consider approving a resolution for a bond proposal in May, for a vote on November 4, 2025.
As we work together to support the future of Richmond Community Schools, I encourage you to take part in these important discussions. Your engagement is essential in shaping a plan that best serves our students, staff, and the entire community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our schools. I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming sessions.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Walmsley, Ed.S.
Superintendent
