Important Message from Superintendent Walmsley

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, it was reported to middle school administration that a student made a statement that they were going to put a bomb in the locker of another student. The student in question was immediately removed from class and the School Resource Officer (SRO) was contacted. Within minutes, the SRO arrived at the middle school. This incident occurred while middle school students were in class and at no time were students in danger.

After the building’s Crisis Response Team and School Resource Officer worked through the county-wide and district-adopted Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management (BTAM) protocols, it was determined that the threat was not credible. The locker and personal belongings of the student in question were searched. The parent of the student in question was contacted and the student was removed from school.

Please know that the safety of our students, staff, and faculty is our top priority. We continue to take all necessary precautions to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone. While I understand that news like this can be unsettling, please be assured that we are taking every necessary step to ensure the safety of our school community and act swiftly when threats are received. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support of our school.

Sincerely,
Brian J. Walmsley, Ed.S.
Superintendent
