I am highly qualified to teach grades K-8 in a self contained classroom. I am currently teaching first grade.
Education Experience:
Master of Arts in Teaching
Saginaw Valley State University
Elementary Classroom Teaching
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
Central Michigan University
Child Development/Reading in the Elementary Grades
I started teaching in 1999.
I chose to enter the field of education due to some of the teachers that instructed me while I was in school. With their guidance and encouragement, my love of learning grew and I was inspired to follow in their footsteps. I hope to pass on the inspiration those teachers gave me to my students.
Outside of the Classroom
In addition to my teaching duties I am currently a building representative for the REA union members, I am also on the School Improvement Team, I am a board member of the PTO, and I am a mentor teacher. In the past I have also completed the Teacher Leader program at the MISD, been a co-advisor for the K-Kids (Kiwanis Kids) Club, served on the March is Reading Month committee, and taught the summer literacy and math programs.
I am a proud mom of two adult children. My oldest daughter is married and lives in Louisiana. She is a small business owner and attends college part time. My youngest daughter graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2021 with a degree in Human Resources. In my free time I enjoy reading, gardening, and attending concerts. I graduated from Richmond Community Schools and I am proud to still be a Blue Devil!
