Mrs. May

Classes: I am highly qualified to teach K-12 Music and am teaching 6th grade music this year.  I am also highly qualified as a K-12 School Counselor.

Education Experience:
Masters of Arts in Counseling Oakland University
Masters of Arts in Education Central Michigan University
Bachelors of Arts in Music Education Central Michigan University

I began teaching in 2002.

The 2017-2018 school year marks my fifth year as the school counselor at Richmond Middle School.  Prior to being the school counselor, I spent eleven years teaching 5-12 band and general music here at Richmond Middle School and also at Richmond High School.

I attended Central Michigan University for both my music education degree and my first masters degree.  I also attended Oakland University, where I earned my second masters degree, but I will always be a Chippewa at heart!

It was after being the band director for several years, connecting with my students and what was going on in their lives, that I realized I wanted to go into counseling.  I realized I wanted to be able to sit down and talk more with my students about what was going on in their lives, but as the band director I just didn't have the time to do that.  I am so blessed to now have this job and be able to support students with their personal and academic needs.
