Hello My Name Is...
I currently teach 8th grade ELA classes and two sections of Text Analysis.
I am highly qualified to teach Language Arts and Science. I'm also certified as an Adolescent Critical Reading Intervention instructor.
Masters of Curriculum and Instruction - Concordia University
Bachelors of Science in Education - Central Michigan University
As the daughter of a teacher and a principal, I've grown up around education, and I've always known it was my calling. Originally planning to work in speech therapy in schools, I studied speech science at Michigan State University for two years. However, after an internship as a teacher aide in a summer reading program, I knew I wanted to be in the classroom setting. I then transferred and graduated from Central Michigan University with my elementary education degree. Later, I earned my Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University in 2008.
This is my 13th year as a teacher in Richmond. I have been a classroom teacher at many levels, including 5th grade, 2nd grade, and for the past seven years, middle school. In addition, I've taught adult education at Macomb Community College.
Of all of the levels I've experienced, I have enjoyed teaching middle school students the most. Their energy, differing personalities, and willingness to think outside the box and enthusiasm makes them incredibly fun to teach. I firmly believe that every student has infinite potential and, with the support of parents, I thrive on helping them grow and find success in learning.
