Education Experience:
Bachelors of Science (Cum Laude)
Central Michigan University and the Centro de Estudios Inter-Culturales in Sevilla, Spain
Elementary Education and K-12 Spanish Education
Major: Spanish Education K-12
Minors: Bilingual Bicultural Education and Reading in the Elementary Grades
Professional Teaching Certificate

I started teaching in the Richmond Community School District in 2010.

Why did I decide to teach Spanish?  Spanish is one of my greatest passions - fueled by my many years of Spanish language study and through my experiences living abroad in both Oaxaca, Mexico and Sevilla, Spain.  I love Spanish, Central American and South American culture and enjoy teaching the Spanish language and exposing students to various cultural elements helping them to think and act globally.

Outside of the Classroom:
In addition to my teaching duties I am also the Bilingual Coordinator for Richmond Community Schools, Co-Advisor for Student Council at Richmond High School, and am involved in Richmond High School's School Improvement Committee.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, yoga, reading, traveling to see sights or family in the U.S. or to visit my 'other family' (my study abroad host family) in Sevilla, Spain.  I also enjoy spending time with my husband and family, and hanging out with our cats Lorelai and Rory and dogs Sookie (Black Lab/Whippet mix) and Babette (Golden Retriever) - have you figured out a theme with animal names?  They're all named for characters from the show 'Gilmore Girls'.
